Inspiring more hope throughout the Mother Lode
Whenever I interview someone joining our team, I like to ask, “Did you choose healthcare, or did healthcare choose you?”
I didn’t choose healthcare at first. Squeamish at the sight of a needle, I was on a path to becoming an investment manager when the opportunity to interview with Adventist Health arose. I decided to begin my career in healthcare because I was inspired by the people who are called to serve others in their most vulnerable moments.
Twenty-five years later, I am still moved by this shared calling, and I am so grateful for our community of donors who have chosen to partner with us. Your support is vital to helping us ensure everyone in our community has access to excellent care. Thanks to your generous contributions, we were able to build a second cardiac catheterization lab, where we began offering the first interventional cardiology program in the Sierra Nevada foothills last year. As you’ll read in the pages of this report, your generosity is saving lives and keeping loved ones close to home.

This January, we said a fond farewell to Andee Keller on her well-deserved retirement from her role as Philanthropy Director. We are grateful for Andee’s contributions to philanthropy at Adventist Health Sonora and wish her the very best as she enjoys her next chapter.
We are thrilled to have welcomed Karen Ortiz as the next leader of our foundation. Karen comes to us with extensive experience in healthcare philanthropy and donor relations, most recently serving as Donor Relations Manager with Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics. Karen has also held development roles with the Alzheimer’s Association, Lompoc Hospital District and United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County. Please join us in giving Karen a warm welcome to Adventist Health and to Sonora!

The generous women of the Pine Mountain Lake Lady Niners golf club host an annual fundraising tournament to benefit the Cancer Patient Support Fund, which provides critical financial support to local cancer patients in our community.
Their 2024 tournament raised $7,500, more than ever before. We are so grateful for these incredible women and their generosity!

Thanks to gifts from our donors, we invested in the latest imaging and catheterization equipment to build out our second cardiac catheterization suite.
